Sr

The Duty of my place and honr I bear for
the great meritt & Eminency you have Expressed
on all occasions where the Interest of His
Maty [&] His Subjects have been concerned,
oblige me by this conveyance to impart unto
you the good sucess which has attended
the late Applications from yr self and the
Generall court Colony of New Plymouth and withall
to transmitt unto you the enclosed
letter from His Maty in that behalf.

It was in Sept. last His Maty received
by the hands of Mr James Boyd that letter
from the Generall Court dated the 1st of July
1679 whereupon Mr Secry Coventry
was immediately ordered to signify His Maties
sence of the Dutifull respect declared therein
with ana particular assurance of His Royall kindness
and protection towards yr self
and Mr Randolph delivered you a letter
to that effect. Soon after as yors
find by his Maties letter A Committee of
the Lords of the
Privy Councill appointed a Committee for Trade
& p2 plantations took the Address of the
Colony into their consideration and
upon their Report His Maty was pleased
to signify His Gratious pleasure grant their request in the termes
wch you find by contained in ye enclosed letter
Express not withstanding the earnest
pretentions of Mr Crowne to a share in [participate] of
his favorHis Bounty in compensation of his the loss of Nova
Scotia. Some time after another
letter touching the same lands of Mounthope
was received from the Commrs of the
Confederate Colonies dated at Boston
the 25th of August and I do indeed
esteem it very lucky for ye Colony
that it came so late
the stile of which
is so different from the first that had it arrived sooner it might
have [in] some manner have obstructed His
Matyes favor which he had already before so
freely granted in consideration of the[illegible]
Humble Address and acknowledgmts
of that Colony of N Plymth and wheras it does
also concern the Narragansett Country
you will shortly be informed of the
acceptation it finds with His Maty from
the effects it will produced when it shall
have [fretfully] con[illegible]d by the Lords of ye same commtee

In the mean while His Maty remains
very well satisfyed with your particular
services and with the Dutifullness &
loyall expressions of the Colony you govern
and offers to give them each entire
testimony of his kindness as may be
proper for them to desire from Him
In the effectuall prosecution or in anything else whereof (as in what is already past) If I can be
any way serviceable in my station to the Colony
& yr self (as I have endeavored to be in what has already past) I will account it no small
happiness to myself as being with all
respect
